About the Institute
The Institute of International Business (IIB) at Georgia State University offers a uniquely balanced blend of scholarship, teaching and community involvement in our thriving international location.
Of particular interest for the IIB is cross-border business activities and the study of the political, cultural, and commercial environment within which cross-border trade and investment activities take place. The institute links students, faculty, curriculum, and external relationships to create a cohesive, international resource, and to build a global mindset and enhance the global competitiveness of our students, faculty, and the business community.
New Eyes on Emerging Markets
The Global Ambassador Scholarship’s purpose is to encourage more first-time study abroad students and those traveling to emerging markets. This funding supports GSU’s strategic goal of study abroad participation, so more students experience first-hand such critical global issues as sustainability, water stewardship and early education.
The Divine Path
For Sam Divine, Jr., who grew up in the Liberian Civil War zone during the late 1980s and through the ’90s, the compass of his personal and professional life comes in the form of the three things for which he stands: faith, family and continuous improvement.
Opening doors for the next generation
When a student takes his or her first international flight, S. Tamer Cavusgil expects that student’s life to change. That’s what happened in 1970, as his journey to the U.S. led to an acclaimed academic career in international marketing. The opportunities that sprung from that first trip motivate him today as a professor, mentor and donor.
